Nagpur too has entrepreneurs. A city devoid of many job opportunities, and where youth has to go far (read other cities) in search of a good job - Nagpur does need more & more innovators/mavericks/entrepreneurs. CrazyEngineers is an online community of engineers from all over the world. Engineers from over 180 countries exchange innovative ideas, share knowledge, help each other and form a global network of engineers through our online discussion forums: http://www.crazyengineers.com/forum. We believe engineering is not about degrees or certificates. Its about attitude. You need not have a formal degree in engineering to be a part of CrazyEngineers. If you are interested in technology and engineering you are welcome to the team of 70,000+ crazy engineers. Did I mention that its completely free for everyone? Account registration is only needed when you wish to contribute to CE Forums.
Idea of CrazyEngineers germinated way back in November 2005 when I was employed with Persistent Systems – a leading software company. Inspired by “Mega Structures” & “Extreme Engineering” on discovery channel, I started looking for a place where I could interact with engineers who do all the magic from behind the scenes. Unfortunately, even after searching online for 10 minutes I couldn’t find any such place. It was shocking discovery. People who make the world run had no place to come together. Over the time, I found out that there were already few places similar to ours; but not quite as popular as we are among the engineering fraternity. CrazyEngineers began its online journey on November 26, 2005.
CrazyEngineers remained my hobby website for almost 2.5 years and grew only through word of mouth. We never invested a single buck in marketing or advertising CE. We received appreciations from mega-personalities associated with engineering & entrepreneurship including
Dr. Bjarne Stroustrup (Inventor of C++ programming language),
Mr. Paul Buchheit (Creator of Gmail & FriendFeed)
Mr. Burt Rutan (Creator of Space Ship One/Two)
Dr. Stephen Wolfram (Creator of Mathematica & Wolfram|Alpha)
Mr. Guy Kawasaki (Ex.Chief Evangelist, Apple Corporation)
Ms. Mitchell Baker (Ex. Chairman of Mozilla Corporation) and many others.
I called it quits from my steady job to dedicate myself to CrazyEngineers. We’ve been growing rapidly and we are now gradually expanding foraying into exciting stuff which never happened at Nagpur. I wish to shut people’s mouth who look at Nagpur as underdeveloped city and make Nagpur the innovation hub of India. I’d be happy if I can make talented Nagpurians stay in Nagpur than move to Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, Noida for run of the mill boring jobs.
