A: I must indeed appreciate that spirit of yours. You acknowledge that your interests are changing. There are many people who are afraid of accepting such a change and repent over their decisions later in life. First of all I would like to bring to your notice that aptitude and interest are two different phenomenon. One might have ability (or aptitude) to do well in some field but may have not have interest in the same. Lets take your example, you said you chose for engineering own your own and are doing well in studies too. So, that perhaps, indicates that you have aptitude for engineering. But, you still may have interests in other fields like as you said media. Please don't entertain thoughts of guilt, 'its wrong on my part' and the like. However, I would say it would be advisable if you finish your engineering programme before taking any full fledge course in media. Meanwhile, you can think of some short courses or work as an apprentice (which will give you fair idea of what you are buying). Wish you best of luck!
Q: Last week while I was surfing through the TV channels I came across a film in which there was a character of a small kid who was very naughty and prankster. His mother after trying many methods to manage him takes him to a doctor who tells her about some childhood disorder which her son has. This made me think if my kid too needs to be taken to some doctor. He is very active, very naughty and is never sitting quite whenever I take him to market he makes it extremely difficult for me to do any necessary shopping. Even when we go to somebody's house he brings me embarrassment due to his behaviour. All at our home say it is only because he is small boy and that boys are very naughty, but I doubt if I should take him to some doctor. Please help me.

A: I guess we are discussing about a kid who needs some medical attention. He could be showing some of the symptoms of 'Attention deficit Hyperactivity disorder' commonly known as ADHD. However, to make sure you need to first take one or two simple tests in which with the help of standardized checklist his diagnosis can be made sure. The following treatment may include some medications and psychotherapy. ADHD is not a rare condition and good treatment is available which has benefited many. If you can avail any mental health professional for your child, I am sure your worries will be eased.
