Of Talent and Innovation - Subodh Sathe
He started out as any normal,confused, adventurous teenager but now this young achiever is a source of inspiration for many.He is an artist, a designer , a composer and a photographer.Meet the charismatic Subodh Sathe.
Subodh is a Web Designer by profession but this talented singer has composed 6 private music albums in Hindi and Marathi since 2007. He is the founder of Nagpur's First Marathi Band 'Asmi' and also a founder member of the very innovative 'Timeplease Club' in Nagpur.
So where did it all begin?
Subodh completed his graduation in Applied Arts from Government Chitrakal Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur. He also went to Sir J J School Arts to complete his diploma in Applied Arts.By the time he was in second year he was already getting projects for web designing.He along with two of his friends started their own company related to web designing later on. Along with Web Designing and Applied Arts, Subodh was also finding success and appreciation in his other passion, Singing. He won the singing competition at 'Aarohi', Nagpurs biggest colege fest for 3 consecative years.
After getting a training in Hindustani Classical Music for just about 4 moths Subodh decided that he needs to bring out his own CD containing his own compositions. Thus came his first music album titled "Yeh Tanhaiyaan" in 2007. Subodh composed the music as well the lyrics for this album.He brought out 5 more albums in the later years.When asked about the process of creating music he replied, "Its basically a permutation and Combination of various chords and scales.You can come out with numerous combinations.The important thing is understanding what combinations suit your compositions.I learned Guitar and could think and understand these combinations.So I created tunes on my guitar.I discarded few and kept the good ones."He sure makes it sound very easy when it is not. :)
He did not stop at making music albums.He wanted to start a band.But as you might have guessed this guy was thinking some thing out of the box ,as always.He decided to create a 'Marathi' Rock band. He stressed that all the compositions of this band should be original compositions.So he shared these ideas with his friends and eventually like minded people started joining him in his efforts.Thus 'Asmi' was formed.India's first exclusive Marathi band is composed of bright and upcoming musicians, who gel together to create music that is not just original but try to bridge the gap between the Marathi traditional and the modern day music.Recently they came out with their own CD containing orgininal Marathi compositions.Subodh Sathe, Ram Bavankule, Abhishek Pathak, Gaurav Tanksale,Rinku and Brett D'souza are the band members.Santosh Badgujar an upcoming and talented lyricist had written their compositions.This talented group dreams of composing music for films.
A couple of years back, Subodh received an email with a photo of three old ladies playing childhood games. An idea struck him that he should also form some club where people can play the games they used to play in their childhood.So he gathered few friends and started 'Time Please Club'.Members come together and play 'Sankhali', 'Kho- Kho', 'Andhali Koshimbir', 'Rassi Khech', 'Rumal Palavni', 'Lagori', 'Langdi' , 'Nadi ki Pahad', 'Vish-Amrut' ,'Kabaddi' and many more games. There are no age limits for joining this club but only condition strictly enforced is that you should be ready to let your inner child loose at least for some time. This club is growing steadily and now has close to 100 members who meet every sunday and play these games.
This restless soul always tries to come up with something new and innovative every time. For all his creativity and hard work, Subodh recently received a well deserved 'Young Achiever Award' From Sakal Newspaper under the 'Music' Catagory.Subodh sathe is a multi dimensional personality and he never stops in surprising you with his work.Lets wish him luck in all his future endavours in music, designing and innovations.
