Heavy/Thrash Metal Band Optimus Salvation Sailors is going to perform Live! at the Mirchi Sound Check Event - presented by Radio Mirchi & Pulsar in association with Cotton King.
There's going to be a lot of head banging & if you really want to listen & headband to 'Heavy Metal', you ought to be there at Empress Mall on 12 Dec 2010 @ 6 PM!
MH-31 caught up with OSS to know about their band & preparations for the event. Here's an excerpt from the interview:

Tell us about how all of you guys came together.
(Kunal) Me & Aditya met at a Guitar class. There were very few bands then. We wanted to form a band & started looking for more members. Finally, in May 2009 we started our band.
And how did you come up with the name 'Optimus Salvation Sailors'?
Well, three of us came up with three different names for the band - Optimus, Salvation & Sailors!
So we decided to use all the three names. All the three words have a special significance. We are 'Sailors' in the ocean of music & we want to achieve 'Optimium Salvation' through our music!
Tell us about some of your performances.
(Arpit) We have played at all the major Engineering & Management college fests (Aarohi, Pratishruti, Yash, Blando) in Nagpur. We have also performed at a concert organized at Yashwant Stadium.
Do you play a particular genre of music ? Any special likings ?
(Kevin) Progressive Thrash Metal!
Tell us about your band's memorable moments.
(Aditya) Playing at the Yashwant Stadium where Indi Rock group 'Bandish' was going to perform later was a wonderful moment. What made it more special was that we got a 'Once More' request from the crowd & 'Bandish' had to wait for us to finish the 'once more' request!
Any goof ups on stage?
(Kunal) There have been a few goof ups. Once there was some issue with sound. Nobody could hear me play - but i kept on playing till the end of the song. I came to know later that only i could hear what i was playing!
Which are your favourite bands (Indian / Foreign) ?
Dream Theater, Pantera, Porcupine Tree, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Lamb of God
What binds OSS together ?
Our friendship!
And then 'Airtel 10 paisa calling' (Everybody laughs) - It helps us keep in contact with each other every few hours!
What are the future plans of OSS ?
We are planning to take out an album. We have a special theme for that album. We cannot disclose much details now - but you will be hearing about it soon!
What are you going to play this sunday at the "Mirchi Sound Check" event?
We have some great heavy metal songs - around 6-7 lined up for Nagpurians. You can expect a lot of head banging there!
Our jingle that we composed for Radio Mirchi Sound Check has come out well. We will also be playing it on Sunday.
Your thoughts about the 'Mirchi Sound Check' event?
It is truly wonderful platform for all the bands in Nagpur. Mirchi Sound Check event has already helped all the bands reach out to Nagpur audience. We certainly hope that 'Radio Mirchi', 'Bajaj Pulsar' & 'Cotton King' will organise more such events in Nagpur!
