Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM & Pulsar in association with Cotton King - Mirchi Sound Check event has received tremendous response from Nagpurians & has been great platform for the Nagpur Rock Bands.
This Sunday on December 5, 2010, Rock Bands "Arahaan" & "Awakening Souls" are going to perform Live! at the Empress Mall (6 PM). We met up with the band "Arahaan" to know about their band & to find out whats in store for Nagpurians this Sunday.
"Arahaan" Sachin Jain - Lead vocals / Guitar
Mayur Pradhan - Guitar/ backing vocals
Aakash Agrawal - Bass Guitar
Piyush Pandey - Drums
Genre - Metal/Alternative
Influences - Iron maiden, Metallica, Trivium, Bfmv, Switchfoot, Alterbridge, Creed
Q: Tell us about how 'Arahaan' was formed ?
(Mayur) Me and Sachin used to play together a lot. We were looking for guys with similar interests. So one of my friend gave reference about Akash. And then Piyush also came along. All of us hit it off really well & we formed Arahaan in 2010.
Q: You have definitely got a different name from many other bands [who have English names] ? What is story behind the name 'Arahaan' ?
(Sachin) We did not want English name for our band.
Arahaan means 'Ruler/Emperor, someone worthy' & all of us liked the name. We certainly hope that the music that our band will play / create - will be worthy!
Q: What kind of music do you make / play ?
(Mayur) Mostly Rock , alternative metal.
We have three original compositions till now. We have a instrumental version of 'Saare Jahan se Achha'. Then we have a song specially dedicated to mothers called 'Mere Khuda'. And we have a song that's going to raise some eyebrows called the 'Rascal Politicians'. You must have guessed whom it is for!
Q: As a band, there must be some difference of opinions & some disagreements ? How do you cope with it & what binds all of you together ?
All of us like same kind of music. So that really helps in minimizing the differences. One of the things that work in our favor is that all of us have had some previous experience of being in a band. We have now formed a good understanding amongst us & that really has made 'Arahaan' rock solid!
Q: What is your schedule for practice ? How do you balance music & studies?
(Sachin) It is difficult to find a suitable time as all of us are in different colleges / school. Akash is in XII standard while Piyush is a student of IX Standard! So its a real challenge (laughs). But we try to practice 3-4 times in a week.
Q: So what can Nagpurians expect from 'Arahaan' this sunday at Mirchi Sound Check ?
(Mayur) Lots of rock stuff & head banging! And a treat for Metal lovers. We will surely make it an evening to remember for Nagpurians!
We sure hope that it will be an evening full of music & entertainment - Best of luck for your gig at Mirchi Sound Check event!
And Nagpurkars, be there to cheer for 'Arahaan' - Keep rocking!
