 Vapour Sunday

Radio Mirchi & Pulsar in association with Cotton King - Mirchi Sound Check Event is going to rock you again on Sunday (28 Nov 2010, 6 PM).  And this time, its two of the hottest bands - 'Riffing Culture' & 'Vapour Sunday' that are going to entertain Nagpurians at the Empress Mall. So be ready!

We caught up with the band [Vapour Sunday]* to find out about their band , their plans for Mirchi Sound Check & what they have in store for Nagpurians! An excerpt from the interview.

Guitars- Karan "Paa Paplani"
Drums -  Shantanu "Miss Beat"
Vocals - Yashwant "Dolly Kumar"
Bassist - Pranay "The Force"
Guitars - Matthew "Cinderella"
Keys- Hitanjan "Puke Guystalker"

Tell us how it all started for [Vapour Sunday]*

(Karan) All of us met at our college (VNIT) & we had similar interests in music.
(Matthew) All of us were interested in progressive & experimental music. That helped in forming "Vapour Sunday".

How did you come up with the name 'Vapour Sunday'

(A little chaos prevails trying to figure out the origin of the name)
(Karan) We came up with this name around 2-3 years back. It was a random name. All of us believe in randomness. There was no particular reason for the name. (laughs)

Tell us about your performances till date.
We have performed at Aarohi (twice), IIT Chennai,  KITS,  KDK , Raisoni & some more colleges. We have played at 'Zinq Lounge' &  'Coffee n U' on special occasions such as Friendship day, Valentines day etc.

Any goof ups, memorable moments on stage
(Karan) Goof ups keep on happening every now & then! Once there was an issue with the adapter which caused fire on stage!
(Matthew) It sometimes happens that our vocalist Yashwanth "Dolly Kumar" forgets his lyrics & then creates his own lyrics!

One of the memorable moment was in Aarohi 2010 when we were applauded by the band "Workshop". Also Channel V contacting us on facebook was another high point!

How often do you practice ?
A sunday before the gig! Thats it :-)

And your favourite bands.
Pink Floyd, Gojira ,John Mclaughlin, Porcupine Tree, Ott.

What binds all of you together ?
Randomness is the glue that binds us. And then of course our music.

Tell us about some of your songs.
We have composed around 10 original songs till now. We are planning to bring out our album. A song that we would like to tell you about goes something like this - "Love all the sons named Viren " - It is about a superstar sikh 5 year old trying to save all the animals in the jungle. (yeah!)

And then another one is "The tree is the Sun".

Those seem like some "crazy" songs - what can we expect from you this sunday @ Mirchi Sound Check ?
We have some great music lined up for Nagpurians. We will be playing around 10 awesome songs - both English & Hindi. So be there!

Also we would like to tell Nagpurians about a special performance on sunday by an entity called [Vipul Shende]* - thats a surprise!

Ok! So we guess Nagpurians are in for some crazy stuff this Sunday! Be there to cheer for [Vapour Sunday]*  & have a blast just like we had interviewing them!

Keep rocking!
