Laxminarayan Institute of Technology (LIT), established in 1942, is a premier government aided institute of higher education in the field of chemical engineering and technology .The sprawling 78 acre campus of LIT acts as a sanctum of learning in Central India. The institute attracts students with excellent academic credentials from all over the country and moulds them into engineers that over the last fifty-eight years have done it proud. The college has a highly qualified faculty, which is committed in imparting the best of their knowledge. They are actively engaged in training the students in the present context.
LIT has well-equipped laboratories and also boasts of the best library in Central India.
The Institute offers a four-year degree of Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology, and specialized programs leading to Masters and Doctorate degree.
We at LIT believe that being the best is not easy and have strive relentlessly to achieve this objective and instill our students a sense of commitment and responsibility. We have maintained an independence and flexibility that promotes innovation and growth. ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
On the outskirts of the west entrance of the great historic city of Nagpur ,one's attention is drawn by the magnificent building situated atop the hillock giving a panaromic view of the picturesque city.One cannot but have a sense of admiration and appreciation for the selection of a marvelous and lovely site by the architects who were instrumental in planning of yet another academic activity, a centre for learning of Technology.The LAXMINARAYAN INSTITUTE popularly known as L.I.T. ,owes its existence to the munificent donation of Late RAO BAHADUR D.LAXMINARAYAN. The present site and surroundings of the institute with 78 acres of land was spotted on and secured by Late Sir Harisingh Gaur , who was an eminent educationist of his times and the Vice-chancellor of Nagpur University during 1937-38.
The establishment of this centre of learning in technological branches in this part of the region as far back as 1942 was perhaps the only one in central India. The Institute has produced many graduates in Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology in its fifty seven years of fruitful existence.It also takes pride in its Post-graduate and Doctoral research programs.
The Institute is proud to have been credited with the right training and proper leadership it has provided to thousands of its students who are today engaged in the production ,planning, development of new techniques and management of numerous industries all over the country.The personnel, thus trained by the institute in the past fifty seven years of its existence, have become the credit of selfemployment.
The teachers ,are actively engaged in research and consultancy work.The research work carried out is connected with developing process for industries, Improving existing processes,and theoretical
work.Analytical work is also carried out regularly for the benfit of the industries of the region.
