A: The idea of a band was in Gaurav & Abhay’s mind from last two-three years. But it was this year, we approached Shankha as a drummer as we wanted to record our original compositions. Subsequently Mayur joined us.
2. How did you come up with the name 'Renaissance' ?
A: Renaissance signifies the passion to change the present. It was one of our friend Swati who suggested the name of the band.
3. Is there any particular genre of music that you make/play ? or is it mostly whatever you feel like.
A: Our music is mainly hard rock/heavy metal. Though sometimes we do introduce acoustic passages.
4. Where have you performed in Nagpur? And any performances outside Nagpur?
A: This is our first year & we are looking forward to perform in all the college fests in & around Nagpur. Our first performance was in GHRCE computer science forum Phoenix 09.
5. Awards, Memorable moments, Disappointments, Goof ups?
A: Hell lot of memorable moments! First & perhaps the best was looking at the reaction of crowd after our first performance. Second was our composition being recorded and played as anthem for the tech event of GHRCE ace club. Jam sessions are always fun.
6. What binds all of you of you together ?
A: Our passion for music and heavy metal. Not an iota of doubt in it!
7. How is the environment for rock band in Nagpur ? What change, if any, would you like to see among the Nagpur audience ?
A: There are rock shows in Nagpur and almost every college fest has a rock band competition. But still audience in Nagpur is not aware enough of the global heavy metal scene.
8. What is your message to aspiring rock bands in Nagpur ?
A: Simple - play for passion & not for fame or appreciation. Appreciation would automatically be earned if you do so.
9. Your favourite Indian/Foreign artist/bands/songs.
A: Lots of bands inspire us. Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Dream Theater, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Guns N Roses, Motorhead, Deep Purple, Judas Preist, Scorpion etc are some of the heavy metal bands that really inspire us.
