Pune Warriors made a sensational debut in the Indian Premier League 2011 edition with a resounding seven-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab at the D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
A local Lad from Vidarbha , Shrikant Bhaskar Wagh, played a vital role for pune warriors in the match.The 22-year-old Vidarbha left arm seamer finished with impressive figures of three for 16 which earned him a 'Man of the Match' award.
Born on October 9, 1988 in Chikhli, Buldhana District, Maharashtra, Wagh made his First Class Cricket debut against Kerala playing for the Vidarbha team in 2007 at an age of 18. He also made his Twenty20 Debut the same year playing for Vidarbha against Madhya Pradesh.
Till date, he has taken 28 wickets in First Class Cricket with an amazing economy rate 2.66. He has also scalped 15 wickets in his T20 carrer till date. In the previous edition of IPL, Wagh played for the Rajasthan Royals.
