Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE) is one of the first private engineering colleges under Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU). Established in the Year 1984, it is named in the memory of Late Shri Yeshwantrao Chavan, the great patriot who was also the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra State and the former Deputy Prime Minister of India besides being a pragmatic national leader. It was established by Nagar Yuvak Shikshan Sanstha (NYSS) which is a premier technical educational Institution of Central India.
The college was granted the academic-autonomous status in the year 2010 making it the first college in the 85 years history of RTMNU to get autonomy.
Ranked among one of the best colleges not only in Maharashtra, but also in India, the college has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation for Undergraduate as well as Postgraduate courses. It has also been approved by the Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Maharashtra and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

The college observes its annual cultural event every year. There are various events like Dance competition, Singing competition, Rock Band competition, quizzes, fashion show, photography contest etc. The college also conducts technical events iTechRoots and SPANDAN. iTechRoots is a technical symposium that comprises of various events like RoadRunner, Casino Royale,Survival Series, Code Knight Battles, Web X, Check IT Out Reloaded, Equity Bulls and Achilles' Heel. Spandan, a national level conference & poster competition is organized by the Mechanical Engineering department of YCCE in the month of February every year.The main motive behind the conference is to provide a platform for researchers and students belonging to various engineering disciplines to exchange their ideas, research findings and latest technical developments in their respective disciplines. The main focus of the paper presentation event is the emerging trends and recent developments in the various fields of engineering and technology.
The college recently signed MOUs with various foreign universities like Purdue University; College of Engineering at West Lafayette; University of Massachusetts, USA(UML), USA; Northern Illinois University; Lawrence technological University, Michigan. The college has also signed MOUs with some National Institutes of Technology (NITs) like SVNIT, SURAT for cooperation in several fields of academic endeavours.
The college boasts of excellent placement records. Every year, companies like Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., nVidia India Ltd., Persistent Systems Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., Wipro Technologies Ltd., Tech Mahindra Ltd., Zensar Technologies Ltd., L&T Infotech Ltd., KPIT Cummins Infosystems Ltd., Capgemini India Ltd., Fluor Daniel India Pvt. Ltd., Ambuja Cements etc. visit the campus every year to recruit students.
